The year to date has seen sustained bid writing successes, an expansion of our training services and agile, flexible adaptations in response to developments in bidding.
With 2024 shaping up to be another successful year, we summarise some of the key bid writing achievements and business activities in the year to date, alongside our objectives for the latter half of the year.
Business updates
This May saw us celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of Executive Compass. In recognition of this, we held a summer party in the renowned Jesmond Dene House in Newcastle, which also gave the opportunity for members of the team working across the UK the opportunity to meet, socialise and recognise their own hard work.
In response to increased demand for our bid writing services, the soft launch of our new Executive Compass Care division resulted in the expansion of our care team helping to support clients with health and social care bids. With the government procuring billions of pounds of health and social care provision each year, we anticipate a sustained increase in demand for our services.
Lastly, another successful recruitment drive has led to a new cohort of six bid writers joining this month – all of whom are progressing well on joining the fast-paced world of public sector procurement. Keep an eye on our website for their bios!
Pre-bid consultancy service
This year has also seen the launch of our new pre-bid consultancy service. This is tailored to clients who want to adopt a more strategic approach to pre-bid activity and have a firm plan for upcoming submissions. The service is completely bespoke and tailored to the organisation – some of the topics include:
- Developing key ‘win themes’ and identifying unique selling points on why you are best placed to deliver a contract
- Anticipate content which may be addressed as part of the submission – for example, mobilisation or quality assurance
- Capture planning or storyboarding sessions to further create a strong foundation for a future submission
- Begin compiling statistics and evidence which can be effectively integrated into case studies, contract examples and other bid responses.
The service has been designed specifically to complement the new bid pipeline measures included in the Procurement Act 2023, which includes strengthened guidance around pre-bid activity. Clients have already engaged in our pre-bid consultancy service to help them acquire or retain business-critical, must-win tender submissions.
Celebrating success for our clients
Our tried-and-tested bid writing and review methodology has been refined and developed over the past 15 years, resulting in an 85% fully auditable success rate and 75% repeat business. This has enabled our clients to acquire in excess of £5 billion of contracts through the tender process.
So far, we have completed 352 projects on behalf of 130 clients, including our bid writing and review services.
Just a few examples of key contract and framework wins from the first half of 2024 include:
- Thirteen Housing Group – repairs and maintenance framework
- Efficiency East Midlands – asbestos surveys framework
- Pan-London any qualified provider (AQP) – domiciliary care framework
- North Tyneside Council – kitchen and bathroom repairs

Bid writing training and courses
As above, our training division led by Stephen and Matthew has expanded, resulting in us delivering more training sessions than ever before. Our specialised bid training courses are tailored to the requirements, experience and internal bid resource of your organisation. This ensures training content is targeted precisely to your requirements.
For this reason, we offer beginner and intermediate bid writing training depending on your experience bidding for contracts. Certain organisations may also benefit from training targeted around specific topics – for instance, social value training.
In accordance with our status as NEPO’s approved partner for their Supplier Partnership Programme, Stephen and Matthew have delivered a series of workshops, sessions, social value training and surgeries to hundreds of delegates.
With a focus on supporting local, North East-based businesses to do more business with the government, our work with NEPO evidences our ethical and values-driven approach to the world of bidding.

The emphasis on providing high-quality bid writing, bid review and bid management services remains the core focus of our business – building long-lasting relationships with clients across all industries and sectors, supporting them in growing their business, expanding their portfolio of contracts and increasing revenue.
