Bespoke training agendas
Our training is always bespoke and tailored to your organisation’s individual needs. It may be directed towards beginners and companies new to bidding, experienced teams looking for a refreshed approach, or more intensive training for individuals. Our approach is to understand where your company is currently, including reviewing existing bid submissions, so we can produce a bespoke agenda suited to your requirements. This allows our trainers to concentrate on any weaknesses or areas for focus, provide examples and industry specifics suited to you, and ensure that all delegates leave with the skills to tackle tender submissions in-house, and work confidently towards improving success rates.
How can your team benefit?
Existing bid writers, bid teams and all delegates can see the following benefits to undertaking tender writing training:
- Learning about the procurement process and what buyers are looking for
- Benefitting from an external view to identify any current weaknesses
- Learning skills and techniques to improve both bidding approaches and writing techniques
- Ideas and advice on topics such as social value, innovation, added value and quality management
- Understanding the bid/no bid decision making process
- How to select win themes.
Real-life examples
A lot of our training sessions are delivered to companies who are already successful in bidding for contracts, but who are looking for a professional opinion to strengthen their processes and written submissions. We recently delivered training to Northumbrian Water. Their main requirement was to improve the bid writing skills of their staff, starting at the pre-tender stage and working their way through the whole bidding journey. We covered topics such as modelling a bid/no bid process, using evidence effectively, working within restrictive word limits and how to approach social value. Read a full article on the training session here to find out more and hear feedback from the Northumbrian Water team.
Another recent training session with our main trainer, Matthew Walker, was spread over two days and was more intensive. This was delivered to a company based in Glasgow to help improve tender submissions for their training and education company. Matthew spent the first day using a live tender document as a practical training aid, allowing the client to see exactly how our bid writers approach writing a tender. The second day covered analysing the specification, deconstructing the questions and using persuasive techniques: all tools that Matthew can teach the delegate in order to improve how they tackle a submission.
