For those organisations or individuals who are new to the procurement process, our introduction to tendering course covers:

• The purpose and key principles of UK public sector procurement, including relevant legislation such as the Procurement Act 2023 and what this means for bidders
• Different types of contract, such as framework agreements and dynamic purchasing systems (DPSs) and the different formats of tender procedure
• The meaning, purpose and requirements of key tender documentation provided by buyers, including selection and pre-qualification questionnaires (SQs; formerly PQQs)
• How tenders are assessed and contracts are awarded, reinforcing the importance of ‘best value’ and providing an insight into how to approach tender questions
• Where public sector tender opportunities are advertised and how to strategically search these to identify those which are potentially suitable by interpreting key details provided.

All courses are bespoke, meaning we would tailor the above to your industry where appropriate. The half-day course is delivered online in a workshop environment, allowing active discussion of the specific challenges and complexities that your organisation may face.

What you will learn

After attending this course, you will understand the competitive landscape and be confident to navigate the UK’s main directories for the publication of public sector contract opportunities.

You will gain a greater understanding of seemingly complex tender documentation and, moving forward, you will be able to quickly dissect tender packs, identify which documents require completion and which are provided for your information, and understand the main principles of completing documents to a high standard.

As the course is accredited by CPD UK, each delegate will receive a CPD certificate with a value of circa three CPD points.

The training is delivered online via Teams, Zoom or equivalent, specifically to your organisation. Building on the core agenda above, the course will be tailored to your requirements, taking into account the nature of your organisation and the sector and industry in which you operate, at a date and time to suit you.
